Professor Joseph Fitzpatrick

Fitzpatrick has taught at the University of Louisville, Bellarmine College, the Columbus College of Art and Design, the Ohio State University and the University of Kentucky. He formerly served as Art Director of Stereo Review magazine. His work is in many public and private collections, including the Columbus Museum of Art, the Ohio State University Museum, the Dayton Art Institute, the Owensboro Museum, the Evansville Museum, the University of Louisville, the University of Kentucky Art Museum and Georgetown College.


 

Joseph Fitzpatrick has been awarded an Al Smith Fellowship Professional Assistance grant in recognition of artistic excellence for professional arts in Kentucky through the Kentucky Arts Council, a state agency in the Kentucky Commerce cabinet, supported by state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.

 

 

The Hite Institute, University of Louisville, mounted a retrospective exhibition at the University Galleries January 12-February 19, 2006.

Fitzpatrick was the solo artist at the opening of the new Gallery at the Brown Hotel, Louisville.

Fitzpatrick also exhibits at the Princess Street Gallery, Harbour Island, Bahamas, the Chapman Friedman Gallery, Louisville and Ann Tower Gallery, Lexington, Kentucky.

Professor Fitzpatrick was awarded a residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre for the Arts at Annaghmakerrig, Ireland, along with a support grant from the Kentucky Arts Council.

Lunenburg, Nova Scotia has been the venue for two of Professor Fitzpatrick's exhibitions: a solo show at the Lunenburg Art Gallery in June, 2009 and an exhibit shared with Paul Kelley at the Lunenburg Academy in September, 2010.
